Letting go and giving into whining is so easy. Whining never solves any problems because they are just words and no actions. Whining is our doubts and fears vocalized. It is hard to overcome your own apathy and whining let alone others. Sometimes it is more difficult to deal with others who are apathetic to their situation because well, it is easier to distance yourself and not get involved. Obey their wishes and ignore the tougher road of suggesting the right thing to do. Involvement is definitely more difficult because interaction and caring is involved of another individual.
Especially, in business where little is ever said about interacting and involving yourself with other's personal lives. The goal is always to sell a product or a service but rarely the time is taken to analyize and defines what the right service for that particular person. Is it the fast pace of our American lives? Is it the fix it now mentality? Is it the one stop shopping credo of our society?
All I know is that I see it day in and day out especially those going through this tough time in real estate; sometimes even in myself. Keep my head low and my mouth shut - just get the job done. Is that what you really want? Is it someone just to come in and take care of business? OR Is it someone who will take care of your needs with their knowledge and expertise? Let us take this era of change and redefine the meaning of business product and services. Maybe if we cared more about people and less about the bottom line; we are better off as a society.

In creating our plans for business or personal development going into the new year one comes to the conclusion that all this is a lot of "WORK." Nothing ventured, nothing gained of course. But did you know that there is
A Double Edged Sword to the W Word?
Well there is. It's a given that "working hard" is important to getting anything accomplished in a timely fashion and at high levels of quality. Attention to detail and follow up all come with hard work. Not starting work late or ending it early all show you are a dedicated worker.
But the other element of the sword to the W word is "working smart." You can laugh if you consider yourself dumb, cause then you can just work even "harder." But we have no dumb readers that read these posts, so polish up that brain part of you. Why keep doing something that is not working? That's insanity by the way. What about assessing? What is working? What about delegation? What can you have others do to leverage your most valuable resource? YOUR TIME. Time is money in business but more important for anything time is YOUR LIFE.
One of the most critical things you can do for 2009 in both your business and personal planning is self-educate. Read, read, read some more. Did I say read? So much of the answers you are looking for to working smart are found in books, magazines, newspapers, online, and check this out - BLOGS!!!
Go to conferences, training seminars, talk with EVERYONE. If that already smart brain of yours wants to learn how to work even smarter this year, get yourself some more education.
If you completely embrace working HARD and working SMART you will fully leverage all you can be and be a complete success in achieving your goals. Don't underestimate the importance of each but the greater power of the two in tandem.
